Delete the Code You’re Saving “Just in Case”

I used to keep dead code around.
Commented out, “just in case.”

A graveyard of blocks
I was too nervous to remove.

Every one of them slowed the next reader.
Is this needed? Why is it here? Can I touch it?

The truth was simpler than my fear:
I had version control.
Nothing was ever really lost.

The old code was safe in history,
not haunting the file.

Now I delete without ceremony.
If I need it back, it’s one command away.

A clean file is worth more
than a comfort I never used.
