The worst incident I ever watched
wasn’t the breach itself.
It was the silence after.
We had no idea what happened.
No logs. No trail. Just a bad feeling and a hole.
That taught me something:
security isn’t only about prevention.
It’s about being able to look back.
Now I log like someone will need
to reconstruct this night, line by line.
But never the secrets themselves —
that’s just writing the breach down for them.
Record enough to tell the story.
Nothing that becomes the next one.
